日本堆積学会と炭酸塩コロキウムの皆さん

第３２回万国地質学会議（32th-IGC) が、来年の夏、８月２０日-２８日にイタリアの
フロレンスで開かれます。私がコンビーナーをするセッション（砕屑岩と炭酸塩堆積物
の続成作用: G-21-15) の宣伝コピーです。他にも堆積学関連で１５の一般セッション
があります。巡検に行ってみたいコースがいくつもあります。資金援助 
（Geohost program) と巡検の申し込み締め切りは１１月３０日、講演要旨の締め切り
は１月１０日（従来１１月３０日だったが延びた）です。興味ある方は、

Dear Dr.,

I am again writing to you in behalf of the organizing committee of the 32nd 
International Geological Congress to invite you to present the results of your 
research in the Section of Diagenesis of the Congress, which I will coordinate 
together with Dr. Ryo Matsumoto, from Tokyo University.

We expect to have the participation of top international researchers in this 
Congress to be held in the unforgettably beautiful town of Florence, cradle of
 the Renaissance. Your participation will contribute to the success of the 
Diagenesis Session, that we hope to make one of the strong points
 of the Congress.

I am also pleased to mention that we were invited by the Geological Society of 
America to organize a GSA Special Publication on Diagenesis, based on the works 
presented in the Diagenesis Section of 32nd IGC, which we will co-edit
 with Dr. S. Morad, from Uppsala University, Sweden. Such a volume may
 constitute a milestone on the state of art on clastic and carbonate diagenesis.

We therefore encourage you to submit abstracts to the 32nd International 
Geological Congress within the deadline of January 10, 2004. Instructions for 
abstracts submission are available in the Congress web site at:
http://www.32igc.org

Besides, we ask you to consider the preparation of a full paper on the same 
studies of the abstracts, to be submitted to the GSA special volume that will be 
edited. For the preparation of the paper, please follow the instructions for 
submission to GSA Bulletin at:
http://www.geosociety.org/pubs/contrib.htm

It is already possible to register for the conference and to submit abstracts in 
the Congress web site. The web site contains the Second Circular, which includes 
the Scientific Program with the complete list of Symposia, Sessions, name of 
conveners and scientific sponsors.

Authors may submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations to the 32nd
 IGC from May 05, 2003 to January 10, 2004, indicating two sessions in
 priority order.  The abstracts have to be submitted by those who will be
 their presenters in the oral or poster sessions. Each presenter can submit
 only one abstract for oral presentation. There are no limitations to
 the number of abstracts submitted for poster presentation. Of course,
 a person who is not the presenter may be co-author of more that one abstract.
 All abstracts must be submitted electronically. The abstract review processes 
will take place from January 11 to February 29, 2004. Following the completion
 of the review, the electronic system will inform each presenter 
of acceptance, session allocation, and mode of presentation of his/her 
abstracts. Presenters of accepted abstracts must meet the payment deadline for 
Congress registration fees of March 31, 2004.
